Erik Sausa
Contemporary Artist
Erik Sausa is a Filipino contemporary artist based in Angono who is known for his innovative approach and diverse artistic expressions. He has a background in Studio Arts from the University of the Philippines Diliman. Sausa’s work often combines a sense of nostalgia with contemporary themes. With his deep understanding of visual storytelling and spontaneous varied practice, viewers are reeled in to explore, engage, or interact with his works in novel ways. He plays around both intentionality and the unexpected, blending them seamlessly to allow new and meaningful interpretations from his audience.
Sausa has held seven solo exhibitions since 2009, alongside his profound involvement in multiple group exhibitions, has given way to his continuous artistic growth. He was shortlisted for the Luzon Regional Entries (Philippine Art Awards), the Asian Cultural Council Fellowship Grant, and the Alliance Francaise Philippine Artist Residency Program (where he was among the Top Four), and was also a finalist in the Open Art Competition organized by the Art Association of the Philippines. He was also involved in the UNESCO World Heritage in Southeast Asian Young Hands as a facilitator in the years 2000 and 2001.
